On June 8, PNHP and hundreds of allied organizations released a letter, “Now is the Time for Medicare for All,” arguing that worsening health outcomes, rising medical debt, and corporate dominance in health care demand a better path forward: Medicare for All.

Our coalition including leading national groups like Public Citizen, National Nurses United, People’s Action Institute, Social Security Works, Labor Campaign for Single Payer, and Healthcare NOW. In total, the letter was signed by more than 325 advocacy organizations nationwide.

I write as a constituent—and as a physician–to urge you to support the vision outlined in the national letter, “Now is the Time for Medicare for All,” which has been signed by more than 325 advocacy organizations across the country (including Physicians for a National Health Program). My colleagues and I see the consequences of our broken health care system every day. Patients delay care because they cannot afford it, struggle with medical debt despite having insurance, and face barriers imposed by corporate insurers that put profits ahead of health. At a time of growing economic insecurity and widespread frustration with corporate influence in health care, Medicare for All offers a commonsense and popular solution: guaranteed health care for every person in the United States. As lawmakers consider the future of our health care system, I urge you to stand with patients, health professionals, and the hundreds of organizations that have signed this letter. Please publicly support Medicare for All and work to advance legislation that would guarantee comprehensive, high-quality, trustworthy health care for all Americans. Our country needs a health care system that puts patients first. Please stand with your constituents and make this a reality.
