Dear health justice activist,

Two months ago, I led a delegation of PNHP physicians, SNaHP students, and health justice activists to Washington, D.C. to raise the alarm about Medicare Direct Contracting, a dangerous and insidious program that threatens the very future of Traditional Medicare. We gathered outside the Dept. of Health and Human Services, but were ultimately refused entry when we tried to deliver your petitions demanding an end to DCEs.

Since then, we’ve worked with allied organizations, members of Congress, and activists like you to force the issue in Washington. We’ve met with HHS administrators, led Congressional briefings, published countless op-eds and, on Wednesday, I’ll have the opportunity to testify before Congress on the dangers of Medicare Direct Contracting.

  • What: Congressional Hearing on “The Hospital Insurance Trust Fund and the Future of Medicare Financing”
  • Where: U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, Subcommittee on Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Growth
  • When: Wednesday, February 2, 2:30 p.m. Eastern
  • Watch live: Click HERE to watch a livestream of the hearing

This hearing will be one of our highest-profile opportunities to push back against Direct Contracting Entities, and I’d like every PNHP member to help spread the word. Please share this email with your colleagues—or anybody concerned about the future of Medicare. Brush up on the case against Direct Contracting at pnhp.org/StopDCEs. And make a plan to tune in this Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Eastern.

Together, we can shine a light on this stealth privatization attempt, highlight the dangers of commercial insurance companies taking over our precious public health programs, and remove a significant barrier standing in the way of single-payer Medicare for All.

In solidarity,

Susan Rogers, M.D.
