May 11, 2022 Dear _, The fight against Medicare profiteering is heating up, and I’ve got some exciting news to share — as well as a special invitation. First, the news: The Seattle City Council unanimously passed a resolution demanding that HHS and President Biden immediately end Medicare Direct Contracting (recently renamed “REACH”) and protect Medicare from profiteering. The resolution was introduced by Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda, in partnership with the Puget Sound Advocates for Retirement Action (PSARA). “Direct Contracting and REACH provide Wall Street firms and large insurers the opportunity to profit off of the health care needs of seniors and the disabled in Traditional Medicare,” said PSARA co-presidents Jeff Johnson and Karen Richter. They noted that 12 DCEs are currently operating in Washington state. The Seattle resolution is part of PNHP’s strategy to expand the fight against Medicare profiteering beyond Capitol Hill, and into every state and Congressional district in the nation. That’s where you come in. Please join me on Monday, May 23 at 1:00 p.m. ET as we kick-off our expanded national “Turning Up the Heat on Direct Contracting and REACH” campaign. The event is free, but you must register in advance. |
